What the Future?

1. People and their lives are involved when they use the word future, isn’t it?

The only way to predict the future is to build it.

Alan Kay, American computer scientist and winner of the 2003 A.M. Turing Award

It has been fashionable to talk about the Future of this and the Future of that ever since Digital surfaced as an alternate driver of life. Most people speak about it as though they don’t belong in that future because it involves Transformation; not just incremental change. This edition is essentially written with the focus on how this Future is something each one of us belong to and how we need to shape it to be on top of it rather than just showing up.

Be the Change you want to see.

Future Involves Me & You

The Future is a Community in Life where each one of us live. Every living being on the planet has evolved as and in communities and this is the way the future will roll out. Trust is the Centripetal Force of a Community and this has faced a deficit in our societies.

There have always been a mischievous and entitled few who have tried to usurp the trust of communities with the power they wielded; and they will continue unless individuals took charge.

We no longer need to shed blood nor protest on the streets for our ideas to be heard and implemented. We have the internet and the power to connect with people across the planet. We need to use it effectively. Creating Communities of Interest that can graduate to Communities of Practice to improve the Quality of Living for each one of us. A narrative that is driven by inclusive growth.

Should we not take charge, the entitled few will continue to dominate the rest of the Society. It is important that we change the definition of the Communities and Cohorts to the relevance of Individual Life Cycles rather than the now prevalent relevance of the Product and Service Life Cycles of Enterprises and the powerful including government.

Democracy thrives only when we exercise our Right to Freedom and Accountabilities concurrently. Be it in Governance, Environment, Health, Wealth, Education, Mobility and Technology.

2. An ecosystem is essentially a community that benefits mutually through Shared Collaboration

Future needs Shaping

We have enough evidential understanding that sharing and collaboration are the the way we can leverage the capabilities globally and accelerate growth. But they have to be driven by the right narrative. An easy reference is the 17 UN Strategic Development Goals to be accomplished by 2030 that has been signed on by most of the global nations.

3. These goals are not just the responsibility of governments but rather every individual anywhere on the planet

Future of Life First

The Future of Life on this Planet will need to be shaped in Communities by Powerful Ideas that can be implemented at Scale. And the setting for such communities is not Facebook, LinkedIn or Twitter. Whatever their original intention, they have turned out to be toxic for our societies. They do not promote the interests of majority whose voice needs to be heard. Rather they serve the minority of corporates who want the data they thieve spying on the vulnerabilities of individuals who inhabit them. That is their nature of business.

We need micro and macro communities in each station of life as the Illustration 2 above indicates. For example, the micro communities of Food, Fashion and Shelter would roll up to Environment that provides the ingredients for each of these Communities. Ideas that are shaped in Communities of Interest would graduate from Conceptualization and Engineering to Industrialization and Commercialization. With Data Autonomy protecting not only Privacy but also the Intellectual Property (IP) of the Creators.

Future of Industry

The circular economy, which promotes the elimination of waste and the continual safe use of natural resources, offers an alternative that can yield up to $4.5 trillion in economic benefits by 2030 reports The World Economic Forum. Achieving this transition requires unprecedented collaboration given that today, only 8.6% of the world is circular it adds.

The World Economic Forum further reports that resource extraction and processing cause over 90% of global biodiversity loss and water stress, and more than half of the effects of global climate change. Without action, resource use will more than double from current levels to 190 billion tonnes by 2060. Concerted resource efficiency and sustainable resource management measures can reduce global resource use by 25% and greenhouse gas emissions by 90%, and boost global gross domestic product by 8%, as compared with a historical trends scenario, from 2030 to 2060.

The incumbent corporates are not incentivized to work on these transformations as their business existing models are still rewarding and the environmental hazards that are caused by them cannot be easily eliminated. They also have a strategic and technological debt that do not prepare them for the emerging challenges and opportunities presented by Digital Technology.

The only way for a better Future of Industry is to create more Intrapreneurs, Entrepreneurs and Solopreneurs who can Create and Sustain the New without the baggage of the past. Who will find the right incentive to democratize and decentralize systems.

Future of Work

We must together learn to make the Flow of Work Cognitively Intelligent in every sphere of life; fusing Data, Talent, Materials, Funds and Infrastructure. We must move the needle of Artificial Intelligence led Automation to Cognitive Intelligence led Orchestration. Where the Flow addresses Workforce and Workplace Transformation cascading to Work Operations & Transformation Orchestration mutually inclusively.

4. The 3S’ are Critical to the Success of the Future of Work

Those that are at the forefront of the Disruption must realize that the Structures, Synergies and Systems as represented in the above Illustration 4 are required to make this digital transformation that is being forced upon humanity does not result in a dysfunctional society. McKinsey reports “By 2027, about $130 trillion will flood into capital projects. But few organizations today could deliver with the speed and operational efficiency the influx demands.”

The essence is to understand Cognitive Intelligence as Recursive Learning along the Flow of Work. To keep the process connected at a Individually Profiled, Personalized and Preferentiated level; serving the interest of personal growth which cascades to Institutional and Societal growth. Giggr Technologies is creating an Intelligent Infrastructure As Service (IIAS) platform that transports Intellectual Property (IP) seamlessly across the environments of Conceptualization, Engineering, Industrialization and Commercialization graduating Communities of Interest (COI) to Communities of Practice (COP) seamlessly. This is the requirement of practically every enterprise in every sphere of life; graduating the Individuals from Communities of Customer to Industry to Life. This is the Future of Life that is Digital in nature and is Value driven that is equitable and profitable for all rather than a few.
